I’m still big; it’s the threads that got smaller.
« on: January 20, 2009, 07:05:25 AM »
Ladies and Gentlemen, friends, Administrators, Moderators, distinguished Guests; on this historic day, let me express how honored and how pleased I have been, to be your Most Active Poster.
[Dodges thrown shoe.]
I’m sure we all remember the milestones we have passed, leading up to this day.  My thousandth post, my five thousandth, the day I became the first to break 10,000 posts, and that one time when I really annoyed someone.  Does anyone remember that?
[Dodges other shoe.]
And who can forget those terrible days when our forum was tragically attacked, spammed, and denied service by cowardly, hateful internet terrorists?
But the people have spoken, and they have demanded Change.  And though some of us thought we would never see this day, Manedwolf’s post count now exceeds my own by over a hundred posts.  I congratulate him on a successful campaign that has inspired exasperated so many people.
Though we may have our differences, I have also been exasperated inspired by his prolific posting on subjects many and varied, not to mention his tireless efforts to create threads, dedicated to graphic design fail, film, politics, and many other subjects.
Like many of you, I watched in disbelief as his chief opponent, and the odds-on favorite, suddenly conceded the race.  Though theories abound to explain such an unforeseen event, let me state for the record that I put no stock at all in the rumors that Manedwolf had photographs of The Rabbi eating a cheeseburger at the All Souls Parish Friday Night Cookout.

So from one blabber-fingers to another, I wish our new Most Active Poster all the best.  May God bless the Armed Polite Society, and may God bless America.   =)

On this momentous occasion I would like to say something momentous but unfortunately I cannot think of one momentous thing to say.  =|

You should have put this in the political forum and titled it "My Concession Speech..."

I'm sure that if we count the 'hanging chads' you'll find that your victory remains. Didn't you delete a lot of posts at one point?

No, I reset his post count to zero on April Fools.

Then I banned him for the day, citing that we had found a new scapegoat, and his services were no longer needed.

Wait! Me and the DNC just found 200 posts in my garage (or was it my car's trunk?), and by golly, they're all MTPs!

Wasn't it Marx who said that Quantity eventually becomes Quality?

MTP did not lose......MTP offered his seat to the highest bidder, and Maned had the cash.....

....as a sitting member of APS, I make a motion that we refuse to seat Maned and launch an investigation into the "posts for cash" scandal.....

....as well as MTP's birth records.....he should post his birth certificate to show that he's even elligible to hold the office he is resigning...
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

It was Stalin, IIRC. "Quantity is a quality in it's own right/in it self", or somesuch.

I believe it was "Quantity has a quality all its own."

Here's what the Almighty Wiki says:

Quote
# This quote is reminiscent of the Marxist theoretical principle that steady quantitative changes can lead to a sudden qualitative leap. It is therefore likely that Stalin may have said something like this. However, in the variant "Quantity is quality", there is an undialectical equation of the two. Stalin is therefore unlikely to have used this variant; the variant "Quantity has a quality all its own" is therefore more likely.
