It's almost official
« on: January 29, 2009, 12:56:39 PM »
Blackwater is getting the boot from Iraq.  I've only read a news stories and haven't heard anything from the gov't yet.  That's why I said almost official.

I've said for a while now that Blackwater's hiring standards were suspect.  About a month ago, one of their former training guys came out and said that they were sending guys who should have washed out of training over to Iraq.  I think they bit off more than they could chew and the desire to fill slots in order to fulfill contracts finally came back and bit them in the ass.

This could be really god for my company, though, so I'm not too upset.  Apparently, they've been expecting it anyway and have been looking to do less security work and move into other areas.

Oh, Lord, please let me be as sanctimonious and self-righteous as those around me, so that I may fit in.

Good.  Ramadi - 2004.  Military intelligence (please hold the oxymoron jokes) blacked out the majority of routes in the province and held all convoys until the routes could be swept.  Since blackwater couldn't hear the warning over the sound of how awesome they are, they went anyway, ran into a spot of trouble.  US Soldiers lost their lives rescuing these guys from a BS mission they shouldn't have been on in the first place.  Good riddance, Blackwater.

Don't worry.  State Department will bail them out again.

Most Americans would be very uncomfy if they knew what kind of hardware Blackwater has been purchasing lately.

Anything you want to share?
Also, wasn't there several rape cases in Iraq, where employees from one of the PMC's were supposedly involved?

They got some sort of a barrel-pig of a boat, supposedly for pirate interdiction or some such.  The McArthur?

What else, RevDisk?

Unfortunately, no.   But I'll put it this way.  Pretty advanced tech that is only licensed to our closest allied governments.   I have a more than working knowledge of ITAR, and I have no idea how it is legal.  But apparently it is, as a foreign military sale.  They must have international subsidaries, otherwise it's breaking US law.
