Free video hosting and file management?
« on: November 15, 2005, 03:34:43 PM »
I'm looking to put some video files of my ipsc/idpa shoots online for easy sharing. Low traffic (chat buddies, family). Options?

I JUST started doing this, so I know next to nothing about managing the files for size, faster download, best formats, etc... I get the files on CD from the camera guy at the range, in .avi format, from 20 megs to 36 megs in size (depending on how fast I shoot Smiley). Someone suggested using MS .wmv Encoder, and I got the largest file down to under 5 megs with acceptable quality and display size, but I don't really know what I'm doing, or if it can be shrunk further with minimal learning curve (and no cost).

Input?

Thanks.

I've found this to be fairly simple  http://www.putfile.com/
The hour is fast approaching,on which the Honor&Success of this army, and the safety of our bleeding Country depend.Remember~Soldiers, that you are Freemen, fighting for the blessings of Liberty-that slavery will be your portion, and that of your posterity,if you do not acquit yourselves like men.GW8/76

I would be glad to host your files for free if any of the other links don't work out. The Google one looks pretty good, though.

Thanks for the offer, Jason, but I'm going to work with Putfile. I had Googled it, but misread the file upload size as the total archive size for all files.

I'm wading through file conversions now with .wmv Encoder, but even after reading the directions (!), it's a lot of trial and error.

Thanks for the suggestions.
