Thinking of selling a Canon Elan IIe w/flash and batt grip
« on: March 06, 2009, 04:35:00 PM »
I was rearranging the hobby closet last night and came to the realization that my cherished Canon Elan IIe hasn't moved from the top closet shelf in over a year.  I used to pull it down every couple of months, but not recently.  The last time I put a roll through it was Christmas of 2007.  I have a couple other toys I'm eyeballing at the moment so maybe it's time to put the camera into some hands that will use it.

The setup:
Canon Elan IIe
Canon Battery Grip
Canon Speedlite 380EX.

Everything is in near-factory-pristine condition and will come with the original box and all the manuals.  Judging by the number of film envelopes I have in storage, the camera has been through about 50 rolls of film (1200 shutter cycles).

So... anyone interested?  I was thinking $200 for the whole shooting match, plus the price of whatever shipping you think you need. (a little stomach wrenching considering I paid almost $800 just for the camera body alone).

I think I still have have a Sigma 75-300 lens that will work on it, but need to dig through another box to check.  Judging by what they are going for on evil-bay, I figure $50 plus shipping ought to be plenty fair.  I'll pull that box down and check it tonight.

Slight correction, and an unwelcome twist...

The Sigma is a 100-300.  The lens on the camera is a Tamron (38-80, I think.  I forgot to write it down).

After digging through the boxes I have the original boxes for the flash and the battery grip, but not the camera.  Also, as I was checking everything I snapped the back closed and the latch broke.  grrrrrrr.  Now I get to buy a latch plate for it.

*Edit to add*  looks like the latch failure is a common problem.  Fortunately it's a cheap and easy fix.  Parts were $10.50, shipping and all, and all it takes is two screws and a few minutes to replace.  I wish everything else today had been that simple and inexpensive.  :(

Okay, finally remembered to write down everything about the lenses.

Sigma 100-300 F/4.5-6.7
Tamron 28-80 F/3.5-5.6

I thought about selling my Nikon N70 last year, but since it's taken a similar tumble in price, I put it back on the shelf. There's one ending today on Ebay for 99 cents without a single bid.
A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.
Is defenestration possible through the overton window?

Nobody wants film anymore.   Digital truly has surpassed it in every way possible.  My N80 has been collecting dust for ages now.  My D40 gets all the use.
