A modification on that 'freest state' research
« on: March 14, 2009, 01:45:58 PM »
Apparently Sorens & co. made up an interactive website where you can adjust the weight of the variables more important to you personally. So for example Balog can dial down the importance of marijuana laws and dial up homeschooling and alter the ranking.

I think this is very useful.

Hmmmm...  I pushed all the top level sliders to maximum value just to see what happens.  With those settings, Colorado comes out on top with a ranking of 0.425.

Which is good 'cause I'm already here, and bad 'cause it might encourage more folks to move here and we have enough people in this state already.
I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

My thoughts exactly. Perhaps the economy going sour will make things a bit less crowded.  =D

I fiddled with the settings a fair amount. Mostly it just moved the order around a little for the best 10 and worst ten states, but they were still the best, and respectively the worst ten states.
