California: 4 shot, 1 dead at Korean Christian retreat

Facts aren't all out yet.

Quote
TEMECULA, Calif. – A gunman opened fire at a Korean Christian retreat Tuesday in Riverside County, killing one and wounding three others, authorities said.

The gunman was believed to be among the injured at the Kkottongnae Retreat Camp, and investigators were unsure what prompted the attack, sheriff's spokesman Dennis Gutierrez said.

"We have some nuns that are very distraught," Gutierrez said.

Gutierrez said at least two of the victims were critically injured. A nursing supervisor at the Inland Valley Regional Medical Center near the retreat said she had no information on any of the victims.

Police and emergency crews converged on the rural area off Highway 79 after receiving reports after 7 p.m. that a gunman had shot his wife, said Mario Lopez, a spokesman with the California Highway Patrol. He said one person was dead when they arrived and the other three were hospitalized.

Law enforcement officers interviewed people at what appeared to be a triage center for injured victims, but Gutierrez said the language barrier was making it difficult to get all the facts. He said investigators believe all the victims are over age 40.

Are we going to start seeing every shooting in the news involving a). more than one person and, b). people who aren't career criminals?

The forest of shooting stories is ablaze.

A translator will be needed to get more information on this particular case though. Waiting game...

The media is reporting every bit of violence involving a gun. While I would still say that this is an unusual number in a short time. The wall to wall coverage though is unusual even by MSM standards.

Look at the calendar.  It's April and we aren't at Hitler's or Lenin's birthday.
I do not smoke pot, wear Wookie suits, live in my mom's basement, collect unemployment checks or eat Cheetoes, therefore I am not a Ron Paul voter.

I watched one clip a few days ago concerning the Binghamton shooting. The MSM figure (can't remember which network) was asking some congress critter about what, if any, legislation was being worked on by congress to solve these gun problems. She asked several times, several different ways. His answer to all was something about there not being a sense of urgency on any gun legislation at this time. interesting I thought, seems the media is pushing things like AWBs and the like as in they have an agenda all their own and are using their ability to reach a large audience to forward it. Me thinks, however, that Obama and the rest, taking note of the spike in gun sales and new gun owners after his election, is taking it as the people speaking and does not want to broach the subject. OR, they're just being quiet about whatever they ARE doing.
Avoid cliches like the plague!

The useless bastards in the MSM who tried deifying Obama during the election are pushing for moar gun control. The policritters don't want to be seen advocating it with the spike in sales, so they'll be "forced into taking action" after the media lies enough to convince the idiots there's a "gun violence epidemic."

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy as well.

It stands to reason that dissafected individuals must be aware of the other shootings, and either had the idea already and it prompts them into action, or they get the germ of the idea from the coverage itself. And aside from the collectivist/liberal agenda of gun control the mainstream media has, "If it bleeds, it leads" is always in play too.

Mass shootings is a viral meme, but unlike RickRolling or LOLcats, there's only a handful of supceptible individuals in America at any given moment. And the threshold for action is much higher than simply hitting "forward" on your e-mail client.

If we could get a couple of pro-gun legislators from both sides of the asile to make some 1st Amendment noise about the media's role in mass shootings, they might take the hint and back off a bit.
I promise not to duck.

Well, not a whole lot to add, but this is the update I just found on Yahoo.

This is going to be a real depressing stretch here if this keeps up. What the anti-gun crowd doesn't understand is that we hate these crimes more than they do.  =|
