Quote
Klein on The Theory of Moral Sentiments, Episode 1--An Overview
Daniel Klein
Hosted by Russ Roberts

Dan Klein, of George Mason University, talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about Adam Smith's lesser-known masterpiece, The Theory of Moral Sentiments, on the 250th anniversary of its initial publication. Klein highlights key passages and concepts of the book including its relation to The Wealth of Nations, Smith's willingness to accept "vague, loose, and indeterminate" rules rather than precise ones, Smith's criteria for assessing what is moral and what is not, and Smith's conception of justice.

This podcast is part of the EconTalk Book Club on The Theory of Moral Sentiments. It will be followed by four bonus podcasts in the coming weeks going through the book systematically. Interested listeners who wish to do the reading in advance can find the schedule along with more background on the book on the EconTalk book club page, accessible from the EconTalk home page.

Geek Confession:
When working around the house, I will play previously downloaded audio files.  No, not Led Zep or David Allen Coe.  More like episodes of Issues, Etc., radioderb,  and such.

I just found my audio companion for six hours of chores.

$240 worth of puddin'
That show is the only fond memory I have of anything on MTV ever.  Of course, it has been quite some time since I bothered watching MTV.  :)

Dude, forget Klein.  I mean, he's a total badass, and I can't wait to hear episode 4 (I listened to 3 twice this week), but go back through the archives...  Roberts did a two-part episode of Milton Friedman awesomeness back in 2006.  And only slightly less spectacular are his interviews of Mike Munger.  Munger's bit on recycling is a good smackdown of greenie stupidity.

According to the blog, it will be more like six episodes.  They got bogged down pretty badly in part III of the book, and they didn't finish it in episode 4.  Check out www.cafehayek.com for blogs from Roberts and Don Boudreaux.

And in case anybody is curious, Roberts is a CCW = less crime advocate.  He has stated it in as many words.
