Machine Gun Preacher

Sam Childers was once a heroin addict who would not even flinch putting a knife to someone’s neck. Now he uses his tough attitude and fearless fighting skills to defend helpless children being mutilated, raped, and forced to be child soldiers by the Lord’s Resistance Army.

I'm confused...is he carrying that piece for protection or is he running rescue/combat ops? His website didn't really say.

     I'm guessing "defense ops". Assuming he's taken residence in a local "Christian" village, he'd have plenty of need for it. Think in terms of a shepherd guarding his flock...
