Need a large key ring...seriously
« on: May 12, 2009, 04:34:48 PM »
I am looking to purchase a rather large king ring of about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in diameter. I have to carry a bazillion keys at work and the "ring" the boss made out of steel wire is starting to come apart and I don't want it tearing up my pants.

I have checked most of the local sources like Wally world and some auto parts stores.

Any ideas?

A locksmith shop?

A business supply store that also has industrial supply products might be a good place to look.

Or, how about several smaller ones threaded onto a carabiner?

I use one of these guys with my keys. The 12" one should work for you.

Shipping might make it prohibitively expensive though.

Not if you order a dozen other things, and on that site it is very easy to do.

That's what I do. I have the keys divided up into groups (house keys, work keys, vehicle keys, seldom used miscellanous). I use one of those steel snap hooks from the hardware store.

Unfortunately the keys cannot be divided onto smaller rings. I would have gone with that route if possible.

Get some masters or junior masters.
Seriously - if you need a keyring that big your company's security department is probably doing something wrong.

We have too many locks that require different style and size keys to make that a reality.

When I repaired newspaper vending boxes 30 years ago the newspaper had the same problem. I carried nearly 300 keys. It was a pretty strong key ring.
