Car question

I'm having some trouble finding this information on the net, from work.  It's probably in my repair manual at home, but:

In a RWD vehicl ewith a V engine, which side of that V is referred to the left vs the right?

I _think_ it's opposite of your left and right if you are standing in front of the car, looking down at the engine.

Passengers side = right
Drivers side = left

Is that correct?  Thanks!

That's how I've always understood it.

The end the fan connects to (or would connect to in a traditional set up) is the front.

All directions are given from the aft looking forward, regardless of what you're mechanic-ing on. Goes for cars, boats, aircraft, and anything else that has a front and a back.
