And even nickels and quarters?

I see it all too often. I've even been getting Canadian quarters in my quarter-rolls for laundry.

Probably not even enough to measure. Its not like were talking about loonies and toonies here.
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

What's the metallurgy of Canadian coins? I may answer that for myself here in a moment...

You don't have to lose that money. Any bank will exchange foreign currency. If you get a lot of canadian currency, just save it up and take it to a bank to exchange it.

I don't know of ANY bank that will accept foreign coins. Paper money, yes.

Maybe it's more prevalent up here with my close proximity to Canada (but it still counts towards the US GDP, right?).

Sort of - if you bring in a bunch of coins(close to the border), they'll give you the exchange rate value, whereas when given as change it's as parity.

As to how much that costs me - insignificant, as I just hand them out to businesses again.

We have lost probably less than it would cost to determine that number.  :)

We have lost probably less than it has cost our Govt trying to cram dollar coins down our throats.
