Unstoppable force versus immovable object
« on: May 20, 2009, 12:34:00 AM »
The government always wants more government. (I like to think of it as a virus that kills its host and continues to expect the dead body to act like a live one.)

The people (even some of the ultra libtards) are beginning to realize that .gov is getting just a bit too big for the common good.

We know have the unstoppable force (the people) and it is getting ready to collide with the immovable object (the .gov) and it could be very interesting to see which one breaks first.

Given this overly simple breakdown of our future as a people vs. our government I wonder what you think of the future when it comes down to us vs. them (and it is very much so the current reality).

I hope that this can be solved peacefully and quietly, but I also realize that humans who are highly polarized do not have peaceful outcomes to their conflicts.

I think it gonna be one hell of a ride from here on out.

Perfect.  Just like they're always trying to muck about with the economy, but they never see the unintended consequences.

Yep. If the only "history" people are aware of is pap rewritten to confirm their prejudices, they're not going to notice their "new" course of action has been tried again and again—and failed abjectly.

I think we've allowed the publik skools to churn out enough mind numb serfs, and the welfare state to create enough.... I can't even think of a properly derogative term for them, let's just say people who exist only to leech from the productive that the good and productive people are outnumbered. Policritters know the parasites outnumber the producers, and they'll keep pandering to them. Bread and circuses friends.

I would have thought both people and govt were immovable objects.

"Looters." The word you're looking for is "looters." There's nothing wrong with the word "parasites." My grandmother was fond of "freeloaders" and "bums." I'm partial to "statists" and "leftist extremists," but to be fair about it, I think "looters" is the most succinct, descriptive term for the carefully nurtured sub-population of indentured Democratic (sic) party supporters.

I believe the term in vogue here at APS is "eaters."

This is partially the kind of stuff I am talking about. The .gov is always looking to get bigger. The people who pay for it are beginning to demand common sense and accountability.

When I am not being involved in it I will be making popcorn and watching. We are going to live in interesting times.

If you had watched APS' movie of the year, you'd have the term on the tip of your tongue.
Apathetics. In that epic film, they were practically motionless and completely useless, requiring the productive members of society to bring 'em their bread.

The immovable object inevitably wins.

When appraoched by an unstoppable force, the immovable object spawns kyrptonite (entitlements) to weaken the unstoppable force.
