Today was the 40th anniversary of Ted Kennedy's supreme episode of forgetfulness. He forgot that he'd driven his car off a bridge in Chappaquiddick, and left Mary Jo Kopechne to die. Some who have studied the "accident" conclude that Kopechne may have been alive for quite some time after the car went in the river. But, of course, Teddy needed a nap.
As liberal icons go, few have the stature of Senator Edward Kennedy. Not even Dr. Kevorkian.
Congratulations, Teddy. Mary Jo sleeps with the fishes, and you're a hero. Virgil Sollozzo would be proud.
