best satellite maps and photos?
« on: September 17, 2009, 11:27:45 PM »
I lost my link to the one I liked, and cannot remember the name- it had the feature of being able to select four different photo angles taken at different times so a really good view of a building was possible- not like google maps where the low angle view only shows a guess of the terrain-what I mean is the google view does not show the side of a building.
So any suggestions for  free satellite or arial pics?

I've got a pantload of links on my machine at work.  Bump this to the top on Monday morning to remind me - virtual desktop seems to be 'effed up or I shut down the machine when I left today.

Google earth is very good, but it requires a software download.
USGS Mapstore lets you download pdfs of 7.5 minute (and other) topo quads.
The feds run a site that is pretty good, but the name of the administrating Department escape me...

NASA Worldwind is another online resource.
For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity, that they may be without excuse. Because knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, and didn’t give thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.

Thanks! I think the bing was the one I was thinking of, shows views from four directions.
