Over the weekend a little town in my old stompin' ground hosted their annual 'Cowboy Christmas Ball'. The feature band was none other than the Texas Playboys! Four surviving original members of Bob Wills band were on hand to put on a heck of a show. And yours truly was running sound!

Dang! They're even older'n me!
I grew up on them and the Lightcrust Doughboys. And Acuff, Williams and a bunch of others of the late 30s and the 40s/50s...

You can hear the grand ol' opery, in nashville tennesee
Its the home of country music, on that we all agree
but when ya cross that ol' red river hoss' that just don't mean a thing
once you're down in texas, Bob Wills' is still the king

good ol' waylon jennings was singin that tune when i read the post.
i think country music has been going to hell since he and cash passed, and the bottom just fell out when big&rich moved into town.
