Anyone want to buy a Benelli? (MI)
« on: October 19, 2009, 05:32:45 PM »
So, I've decided to go ahead and sit for the Michigan bar exam this February instead of next July.  This means I need to pay a large application fee and all kinds of nickel-and-dime expenses.

I need to sell my shotgun.  Benelli Montefeltro, great condition, bought it used from a guy on THR, put a couple thousand rounds through it.  I know we got a few Michigan people here--any chance any of you are interested, or know anyone who is?

Between baby and toddler and LLM classes and bar prep and bar app process and mediation volunteering and writing projects and running, I simply don't have time for shotgunning anyway.  =|

I saw this and my first thought was:

Alas, I really don't need another shotgun and I am a little ways away from Michigan.

Good luck on the sale, and the bar.

Nice shotgun but, probably a bit above my pay grade and I have one too many shotguns already.

Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.

MI resident here, but non-tactical shotguns really aren't my thing.   Sorry.

Just put a label on it and send it over HERE

I'm hoping for $600, and have eight boxes of shells that I'd love to go with it for an additional $40.  However, I'm really not an expert, and will gladly entertain offers.

It's the base model, not the silver.

I can put the word out with my trap team.  $600 for a Benelli auto-loader sounds like a heck of a deal to me.

If I hadn't just gotten the wife to sign off on $500 in computer gear a few hours ago I'd probably be rubbing her feet right now and doing a little begging. :)

I'd appreciate that Giga.  I let my membership lapse at my own club, and I haven't been back there since I got pregnant.  Couldn't shoot, and then just didn't have the time once kiddo was born.  I really don't want to go back there just to sell my gun.  Kind of afraid if I try that, I'll change my mind.

I'll bet if we all chip in our coffee money for a couple of days, we can match that $600 and you'll still have a shotgun.

Nice thought Hawkmoon, but I don't mind swapping one important thing for another.

I've now posted this, and two Mosins, on the trading posts of both THRs if anyone wants to take another look or recommend 'em to a friend.

Either of those Mosins Finn M39's?

Nope.  I don't know much about Mosins.  Got 'em to get a bit of a feel for rifles, realized I like pistol and shotgun way, way more.  They're just cheap gunshow ones, Russian, I believe.

M-N's are not great rifles for beginners to start on.  I'd recommend starting with a good .22lr rifle first....like a 10-22 or a Marlin bolt-action. Then, you could move up to an economically-priced .223 or .243 bolt-gun like a CZ, Savage, or Stevens. Maybe even a single shot like a T/C or NEF (less expensive, and you can trade out calibers).

Also remember...don't skimp on your optics.

Yeah, I also have a Marlin 22 which I am keeping, mostly because it's one good option for starting kiddo out in a year or two.  I  had a single shot .223 that I sold back when I bought the Benelli.  I tend to prefer bigger guns, but overall don't really enjoy rifles much at all.  A friend has a 45-70 that was certainly more fun than the Mosins, but still just not my thing.
