Wow! Presuming they're all LED's, and that Christmas light LED's are roughly 0.05 watt each, that's a draw of 25,000 watts (208 amps at 120v).  Yikes!

Using our electric rate ($0.09/KwH), if he left them on for 6 hours per day for 30 days it would be around $400 just for the lights.

Wow, that's insane.

The most we ever got up to was about 10,000ish mini-lights.

Course, those suckers were half-watt each, for a total of like 5kw.

Yes, we had to load balance off several circuits to not overload anything.

OMG, wonder how long it took them to put all that up - and where do they store it all??  Unless they leave it up all year like some folks I've seen and just turn the lights on around Christmas

What does an ostentatious display have to do with the real Christmas anyway?

After a widely unknown quote from the Gospel of Matthew concerning the Nativity scene in Bethlehem little baby Jesus told the three wise men : Yeah, yeah, yeah gold, myrrh
and frankincens is all fine and dandy but you should have gotten here
in the middle of october to put up some flashy lights on this old stall so
we could show Herodes where to put his census...

My wife typically describes these types of displays as "Christmas puking on the house."

A few years ago I was up to 30,000 lights and I thought that was bad.
Unfortunately a few of the trees got to big to do anymore. (toped out with a 40' ladder)
Now I'm down to about 10,000. Might be less again this year.  =(

Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?
