Immigration Reform: BOHICA
« on: December 16, 2009, 09:10:16 AM »
Uh oh . . . we KNEW this was going to raise it's ugly head again:

Quote
. . . Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., highlighted provisions of a bill he promised to introduce in Congress in the coming weeks that would allow immigrants in the country illegally to earn U.S. citizenship . . .

Let's see . . . add somewhere north of 12,000,000 illegal aliens to the citizenship rolls, just as the government health care steamroller kicks in . . . is there any doubt that they wanted that proposed  $500,000,000,000 in Medicare cuts for America's elderly to finance benefits for these foreign criminals future Democrats?

So let's see.

I speak English.

I have a degree in English Studies and History. I'm a professional with years of experience in my line of work.

Yet I cannot have access to this naturalization process the good Representative is proposing, because I actually respect American law and do not merely buy a ticket to Mexico and smuggle myself across the border, and the people who speak no English and have no respect whatever for US law can just get freebies?

What this will do is that people will become outraged, and then they will tighten the screws so nobody can get in.

Good job.

The Democrats assume they'll have 12 million new voters and won't have to care what those objecting to this think.

No screws will be tightened, they WANT more people coming here for the "free stuff" they hand out.

The Democrats, like all children throwing a tantrum, will push and push until they are sent to their room.  2010 could well be the most dramatic political year since 1860...

I am convinced the democrat party has a virulent death wish.  I've never witnessed a suicide but here we have a slow motion attempt.  We'd be doing an intervention by now if it was an individual and not an institution.

I believe I'd be inclined to say "disease" rather than "institution."

I'm not sure it's only the Democratic Party that has a death wish.

We didn't get as far as we have without an awful lot of Americans buying into a fantasy world that, when the stardust is removed, is about some pretty nasty stuff,  centering on the destruction of the legacy American culture by all means possible.

I still see many, many people who sign up for their own auto-da-fe', I'm afraid, and do so believing they are thereby "good people" and furthering some kind of benign social evolution.  Unless the American Right gets down to business with the propaganda arms that have created this popular mind-set we are just whistling past a graveyard that contains our own bones.

The main problem is too many people are dependant on government entitlement programs....i.e. welfare.
We've had all these programs for way too many years now, and it would be one horrific struggle to try and get these people who turned welfare into a life-style off of it.
What we really need is a government that would repeal just about every program out there that is rife with abuse and "reform" those to make them far less costly, then maybe we wouldn't be going bankrupt.

The welfare people are not the real problem. There's, what, 15 million people on Federal welfare?

The real problem are the legions of bureaucrats.

The welfare class isn't just the recipients, it's the providers, and we all know which part is the more expensive.

Didn't we just defeat this same nonsense just a couple of years ago?

Yup.  Although, I think we had a Congress that was marginally more responsive to its constituents during that period.  Now, not so much.  I'm guessing it will go the distance this time.

The Left will not be satisfied until they catalyze a civil war.  Either citizenship means something in this country or it doesn't.  Either sovereignty means something or it doesn't.  Either the law means something or it doesn't.  Either the will of the American people means something or it doesn't.

The Left is making a huge bet on "it doesn't."
