When fog freezes onto stuff...

It's called Hoar Frost, and it makes for some really neat images.  =D

You've convinced me: I'll venture outdoors again in May.

I thought that was how the Milwaukee Coroner's office placed time of death for dead hookers in alleyways from November to March?
I promise not to duck.

Actually, its freezing fog  :police:

Fog droplets get supercooled, and then stick to anything that is already at a below freezing temperature.  Dangerous as all hell in the aviation world.

We used to get that when I lived up in MN . . . sometimes heavy enough to damage trees and bring down power lines.

Another reason I like TX!

Something tells me that Monkeyleg's transition to The South will be fairly easy - he already speaks the language!   :O

They make rebel flag front license plates for the Mustang, too.  No hoar frost to obscure it, either.

When my friend got back from New York during Christmas break he brought back pictures like that. Pretty cool looking.

What is really nice is when you get a nice layer of hoar frost and then the sun comes out.

This is from last winter. This winter is the year winter wasn't, so far. El Nino winter is in full swing, warmer and wetter, but all rain.  =( Last year we had about 100 inches of snow, this year about 10 inches so far that nearly melted as it fast as it hit the ground.

I ensured a mild winter for the Salt Lake valley when I dropped a grand on a nice Ariens snowblower in the fall.  :P We've had much, much less snow at our house than we got last year.

I did the exact same thing. Two winters of snow approaching 100" made me a little shovel shy for this winter.
