Saving YouTube Videos?
« on: February 18, 2010, 06:59:27 PM »
What prgs (preferably free) do you all like for saving YouTube vids?

It's for saving the below video, which I'm using at my quarterly safety training talk at work next week. Since it's a US Govt produced and approved film, I don't see how I could possibly get in trouble for showing it in a US Govt office.  >:D

A program called "Any Video Converter" works very well.

If you're using Firefox, you can get an extension called "DownloadHelper".

My free version of RealPlayer lets me download embeded videos from just about anywhere, YouTube included.

ETA:  It does, IIRC, save them in a proprietary format, so the playing computer needs realplayer or VLC.  (I use VLC, and um.......have a friend........ well not even a friend, someone I know who flouts computer regs. He says you can put VLC on DOD computers without admin permisions.)

Thanks guys -- Firefox add-on (actually used 1-click downloader) and VLC was the cat's meow.

I ended up removing the other one and going to downloadhelper. 1-click was nice, but this is much better.
