Sears Price Match. It actually works.
« on: February 20, 2010, 11:27:50 PM »
Well, hats off to Sears this afternoon.  Last week our dishwasher took a dump so we're shopping for a new one.  Wife did all the research on what models don't suck and found the vendors that were selling them.

We checked the local Lowe's but they didn't have any on the floor that we were looking for.

Went to Sears and they did have a model that sure seemed like one the wife had reviewed.  Told the sales guy we'd take but we think Lowe's has it for $50 less.  A couple minutes later he comes back after confirming that Lowe's did have a better price and instantly knocked it down to $5 less than their price.  Even though it was an online-only deal (with free shipping) they still beat it.  We brought no documentation, weren't even sure if it was the exact same model or anything, and if he'd said no on knocking down the price we'd have still taken it.

Guess they're not kidding on the price match thing.

No!  This is just wrong!

How can a retailer expect to stay in business by providing "service", let alone "service" that customers benefit from?

Why, it flies in the face of decades of tradition in the retail commerce field.  Even the esteemed House of H&K ("Because we hate you.  And you suck.") knows this would never work.

Before you let Sears put that dishwasher in your house get it checked out for remotely-activated web cameras, hidden RIFD chips, caches of enriched uranium and any other contraband you can think of.  That "service" must merely be a ploy to get the nefarious machine inside your house where the real deamons will be unleashed.

I'm hoping you, your wife, and your dishes are still safe enough to read this.

stay safe.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.
