Jon Stewart on Guns
« on: April 14, 2010, 10:41:43 AM »
I'm trying to figure out how to take this video:
http://tv.gawker.com/5516499/t

It's funny, I think it's meant to be belittling, but strangely enough, if taken seriously, it's quite good.

In a way, I think it's absolute genius.  No matter which side of the issue you're on, it's funny.

I got a few chuckles out of it.

He poked fun at both sides of the argument.

Frankly, I am glad they showed a few dorky mild-mannered people OCing rather than some of the more militant people in the movement.

I laughed at the part where Wyatt came into the Starbucks with the AR, simply because I know people who love to talk about having OC events "to scare the sheeple," or like to brag about the funny looks they get at the grocery store when OCing.

Yes, John Stewart is relatively "fair" for a liberal comedian.

IMO it is funny, and is if not subtly pro in a way, at least neutral/harmless.
I promise not to duck.

Funny.

Now, why wasn't either of the OCers carrying spare mags?

I, for one, thought it was a great piece.  =)

But when a liberal comedian is the best hope we have for Fair and Balanced reporting...  =|

Stewart is a total liberal, but I like him because he is usually honest (well, as honest as a comedian ever is).  Well, I like what I see of him, I don't watch his show since I don't have TV, I just watch the good bits on youtube.

It is sad that I will trust something he says over most msm sources.  It is also sad that he makes his living making fun of msm sources, and he has such a limitless supply of material from every political direction.

Oddly, I also get the impression he actually cares at a level that I don't see with most of the talking heads.  One of my favorite interviews was when he was on crossfire:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFQFB5YpDZE "Please stop.  You're hurting America.  Pleeeeaase stop, I'm begging you."  Lol.

I could go on about my man-crush, but I'll stop there.   =D

Exactly, thats one of the things I dig about his show.

My politics are all over the place, some places liberal, some places conservative, so usually I'll be yelling, shaking a fist at both Fox and MSNBC.  It's nice to see someone who shakes his fist at both sides, even if it's for a laugh.

Yea, exactly the same here.
