( Reno is so close to Hell that you can see Sparks )

A Sparks woman has been jailed on suspicion of stabbing her husband Monday morning, after allegedly going to a store to buy a larger knife.
Franklin Ross, 27, was treated at Renown Regional Medical Center for a large wound in his torso after the incident just after 8:30 a.m.

Police said Ross summoned police to the home in the 2100 block of G Street after he and his wife, Kenya Nelson, 30, had argued for about 90 minutes, Lt. Chad Hawkins said in a news release. She denied having any contact with him.

Police said she tried twice to stab him during the altercation with a knife that had a bent blade and was causing only superficial wounds. She went to a store and bought a large butcher knife, returned home and stabbed him in a bedroom while he was with their children, age 2 and 7, police said.

She was booked into Washoe County Jail on suspicion of battery with a deadly weapon, child endangerment and domestic battery.

This is why we need waiting periods on knife purchases  ;/

Those knifes are funny, we had a nice lady stab her hubby in the side of the neck and arm a few years ago on Mother's day. He bled a lot and lived to go back home to his loving wife.

He was brought back in on Father's day, a tiny puncture wound a little bit below the left nipple, no bleeding to speak of. He was quite dead though.

We think she got him with one of those tiny grocery store paring knifes with about a 2.5-3" blade. The FBI never got back to us on the weapon. It popped (figuratively) his left ventricle so he bled out before he got us.

At least she suicided in jail and saved the feds a bunch of money.

This was on a Rez so it was all Fed jurisdiction.

You never know about those knives.

Bob, I'm curious to why the wife was home at all.  Shouldn't stabbing in the neck be a "put me away til I need a walker to stand up" offense?

Hey, I live in Sparks!  I have no puncture wounds and my wife isn't in jail.  It was about a block from my house.  My wife keeps telling me "we need to move, WE NEED TO MOVE!!"

Better listen before she gets a knife any ideas...

LOL, that's just a funny quote I heard when I was a taxi driver in Reno/Sparks.
Sparks is a fine place, I would suggest we get a coffee but currently I'm up in the Black Rock desert north of Gerlach.

That I couldn't tell you. All I know is that on the Rez the law moves in mysterious ways. It is entirely possible he would not press charges the first time, the second time he wasn't around to object to her being arrested.

Attempted murder isn't a civil matter.  Criminal matters are up to the prosecutor to pursue, not another party pressing charges, though the husband could have in theory filed a simultaneous civil suit.  I'm very surprised the prosecutor in question here did not follow up on attempted murder or at least felonious or aggravated assault charges.

Just curious, but how is moving one block going to improve your home situation?  =D

stay safe.

If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.
