Fire fox memory leak.
« on: July 03, 2010, 10:44:11 PM »
Anyone know of a patch for this.
I just had to reboot my computer after about a week because firefox was holding onto about 1.4 gigs of memory.
Its been up for about 3 hours now and its consuming 300 megs. Love the fox but this is a pain in the ass.
I'm on version 3.5.10 on a xp machine.
I needed a mod to change my signature because the concept of "family friendly" eludes me.
Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

My FF has been using tons of memory, destroying the stability of everything on my computer, and crashing constantly.
I'm really growing tired of it in general.

Sunday it felt a little better, but it was quite irritated from me rubbing it.

Really, I've never had any problems with FF.  Maybe Mabs you should stop going to those sites about Turkish prisons and gladiators? =D =D =D

I've had my FF browser open for several hours now, and it's only about 125 MB (at least according to Task Manager).  And I've been streaming Pandora the whole time.  What OS you be runnin'?

I usually have quite a few tabs open but thats what it is supposed to do.
Plus closing all the tabs does not reduce the memory usage.
Its an xp pro machine.

I know someone is going to chime in and say I need to install linux. Can't do that I still need a winblows machine. (I have both)

That is about the same as mine @128 MB on version 3.6.6 as well.

Mine is 3.6.6, on Win 7 Pro 64.  I'm just going by the Processes tab on Task Manager, and it has it at about 58 MB right now (just opened it ten minutes ago), versus 125 MB after several hours.  I don't know if that indicates a memory leak (whatever that is), but it's not as severe as n_r is experiencing.

Since nobody has said it.

Maybe your APS avatar is using memory as fast as Beavis uses T.P.  =D

As I understand it, it isn't a leak per se but the effect is the same regardless.

I have yet to see mine go over 200K, but I don't leave mine open for days at a time. About the longest I've ever done at a single stretch is 6 hours
