It's time to move on
« on: September 07, 2010, 03:04:31 PM »
http://www.chicagobreakingnews.com/2010/09/daley-says-he-will-not-run-for-re-election.html

"Simply put, it's time," said Daley, 68. "Time for me, it's time for Chicago to move on."

And the big buzz is that Rham Emanuel wants the spot if Daley does not run again.

I can't figure out how to feel about it - glad for the country or sad for the City?

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

Chicago is broke.

All the money from privatizing the Skyway ( $1.83 billion- 99 year lease) and the Parking Meters ($1.157 billion- 75 year lease) is (or will very soon be) gone.

There is nothing left to steal.
That is really why.

There is a lot of 'grave dancing' going on gun boards about his departure, but I will provide this caution:  The replacement can always be worse.

Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

Wow!!  Who has been selected by the machinetm to run Chicago next?

My favorite quotes from Fox story: “Public officials must understand when it’s time to move on. For me that time is now... it just feels right,” Daley said. Too bad it took him this long to realize that it is time. “I’ve been thinking about this for the last several months, and increasingly in the last several weeks, it just feels right.”    I wonder if McDonald spurred this on?

It's worse......

I bet he is planning a run for Governor or Senate.

But is unlikely to be as durable.  Like unto Jane Byrne and Herod Washington, say.

Rham Emanuel wants the spot

And I would think "what fool would conceivably want him?".  But, that's what I though when Blago ran for Gov.  And Senator Pretty Boy ran for Pres.
In thy presence is fulness of joy.
At thy right hand pleasures for evermore.

Nope, he's just smart enough to realize that he's too stoopid for those jobs.  Plus he would get 0 votes from the Collar counties and downstate.   There just aren't enough votes to be stolen, made, errr had in Chicago alone.  He wouldn't even fare very well in Suburban Cook County.

Best to retire and watch it all crumble for your successor.  Secures your legacy, as in "We didn't have all these problems when Daley was Mayor."  ;/ ;/ ;/

hasn't he stolen enough to retire?
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

I suspect Chicago v. MacDonald has him spooked. [tinfoil]
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.
I meet lots of folks like this, claim to be anarchist but really they're just liberals with pierced genitals. - gunsmith
