Fox Versus Dish Network

I was curious if any of you were Dish Network customers and were hit by lack of certain Fox channels.  I have DirectTV so I am unaffected, but my mother is really ticked off right now, because a lot of the Big 12 and regional college football games are on FoxSportsNet which is currently blocked and unavailable on her satellite TV.  They also have a Big 12 Live show that she can't see.  It sounds like Fox is trying to get more money out of Dish and they are balking.  It seems to me that Fox has more leverage in the matter.

I was curious if it was affecting Dish's customer base.  My mother said she called the local DirectTV dealer and they said they were backed up 2 weeks with installs.  She was sure she should make a change when things could be resolved in that time.  It also looks like the other Fox channels may disappear come November.  It would be interesting if Dish customers had the World Series blocked.

Haven't we been saying it would take something like that for Americans to revolt?

Well, losing Fox News would probably be the last straw for my Mother.

If she changes from Dish what is she going to do when the other company has a contract come up for renewal for Fox or another station she watches.

It's happened to cable and sat companies before. It will happen again. I'm guessing Fox and Dish will come to an agreement on cost. If not I don't watch much tv.

I don't know.  I don't know if other companies will have the same issue or not.  I have heard of smaller cable companies dropping channels like ESPN in the past.  Crap like that pushed a lot of people to satellite TV in the first place.

I used to have Dish (a week ago), but when I sent an email to the Dish prez, I got one back suggesting I whine to Fox (wrong answer) about it. I now have DirecTv and so do a whole lot of former Dish customers around these parts.

Direct has a lot better deal at the mo, and they have a pretty good selection of free video on demand, as opposed to the crappy Dish selection which usually runs $6.99 a pop!

From what I have heard, it sounds like a lot of Dish customers don't like it.  They told my Mother to call Fox also.

I like my directTV, but I would warn you that after a year or more when the automatic discounts you get start running out, you can call and complain about the price and you can get the guy to add the discounts back in.
