Anyone playing Black Ops?
« on: November 14, 2010, 09:32:21 AM »
On XBL?
I got it thursday.
I really suck.

I'm sure I'm going against people who have been playing the COD franchise since its inception.  I'm shocked at how fast some people's reflexes are.
But its fun anyways.
Anyone else playing?

I'll let you guess my gamertag.   ;)

The only recent CoD game I have is Modern Warfare.  There is a bit of a learning curve, and it takes time for your reflexes to get honed.  Every time I start playing multiplayer again after not playing for a while, it takes a couple of days before I start holding my own again.

Agreed, Regolith. I always take a while to get back into the swing of things.

I'm also sometimes only good at specific game-types. In Half Life 2 multiplayer for example, I am average at best overall, but on low gravity, crossbow only matches I used to excel.

I'm playing Black Ops.  Gamer tag is Fly320s.

I've playing it for about a week and I still suck. I have noticed a definite lack of complete sychronization in the timing of online play. I'll see an enemy and start to shoot before he does, but he kills me first. In the death cam replay, he sees me first and shoots first. That might explain the "quick reflexes" of some people.

I'll be playing tonight.

Playing Black Ops?  I've only got the original CoD.  Looking at the wiki, I've missed a bunch of them.

Sounds like lag.  Your internet connection might not be good enough.

And the host might be in the UK. I am awesome with Dallas servers in MoH, but get killed in UK servers. Strangely, I do decent with Swedish servers.

That's possible as well.

The nice thing about being on a PC is that you can choose your servers...well, for MW, anyway, I hear they got rid of that ability for MW2.  ;/  Don't know about Black Ops.

Most servers I land in it seems that anyone talking speaks American english, or some innner city form therof. I left a game yesterday because of the language.  And it wasn't some ten year old who thinks its cool to cuss out everyone that kills him.  Room full of stoned inner city sounding types.  My ni**er this and mother****** that.

Has anyone played it on Wii yet?  That's the only game console I have and I don't want to waste my time if it blows on that platform.

Less people speak in PC games. Similar stupid there, though. Which makes shooting them all the more satisfying.

I played some of the earlier ones on Wii and it sucked.  You use the controllers as a rifle with one of those toy controller things, and because there are so many commands on the rifle setup it will make you insane.  And the trigger was on the nunchuck, which is held on the offhand, forward.

Pretty much the only adult game I've found worth playing on WII so far is Red Steel II. But even that game gets redundant after a few hours.

Interestingly enough most the games I've played in were very quiet.  Formed a group with some guys from the fishing forum I frequent, and had a posse of 4 in an XBL party friday, and everyone was communicating reasonably well, which made the game go more smoothly.

I've been in a couple games where I'm pretty sure the other team is communicating tactically.  Trying to defend a flag and get flanked by two while two are trying a frontal assault....muerto!

A few of my coworkers who play Xbox tell me that they get a lof French/British early in the day, and later at night its mainly ghetto thugs.
