Kind of a plumbing question, Radon crap.
« on: January 15, 2011, 06:18:45 PM »
I have this 4" sch 20 pvc pipe that goes from my basement, up the garage wall, into the attic where the fan is and out the end wall of the attic.
Well here is the problem, this crappy pipe keeps leaking water at the joints. (warm damp air cold garage and attic)
I pulled a few apart and reglued them and they still leak. What could I use to seal the joints with from the outside?
I really don't feel like ripping it all out and replacing it with sch 40. The attic is very low clearance where this stuff is at.
Liquid nails? Silicone?

Just noticed that a mod changed my signature. How long ago was that?

Got a question...what did you use to "reseal" them and what procedure did you follow? (I.e., did you use fresh glue, prime it before hand, etc)

I don't know anything about schedule 20 because all we use is schedule 40 and that's all I've ever dealt with.

Yep they just came apart so I re primed and even used some of that thicker PVC glue. No Dice.
I think the points are just to loose and sloppy on this cheap pipe.
Its the same type of pipe usually used for down spouts and french drains.

Silicone?

Dunno if silicone sticks to PVC. If not, urethane sealant should.
