Adobe download problem
« on: January 28, 2011, 09:00:36 PM »
I attempted to download Adobe Reader X and, after the installer opened and reached 100%, got the following error, after which the install terminated:

ERROR 1402. Could not open key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OptionalComponents\MSFS.

I'm running a Dell desktop with XP SP3 and Spyware Doctor as primary security software.

Please help. Thanks,

SADShooter

My recommendation is that Adobe Acrobat Reader is a bloated piece of crapware and you should use one of the alternatives to it like Foxit Reader (which has an installer that will try to get you to install some crap but if you are careful it is clean)

/kind of like the linux guys who say to install Ubuntu if you have any windows problems but less annoying  =D

reader is ok, as long as the browsers are set to save pdfs. ;) atleast that way you have the choice to open it, or hit google and hit quick view, or open it in OOO ect.. =D

and remember, when a file is copy locked, you have a print-screen key.
