This might help explain why Illinois is Broke
« on: February 18, 2011, 04:07:05 AM »
Aurora, IL is the second largest city in Illinois part (very small) of it is in DuPage County (my home county) and the other part (most) is in Kane County, it it heavily Latino and Democratic, like Chicago.

Yes, they do have serious crime and gang problems, but not this serious.  If I lived in Aurora, I'd be screaming my fool head off.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

That looks a whole lot like Winnebago County's (Rockford, a hour or so west of Aurora) new "Justice Center" (jail).

INjustice Center  ???

Gotta make the dungeons look nice from the outside, at least  ;/
Freedom is a heavy load, a great and strange burden for the spirit to undertake. It is not easy. It is not a gift given, but a choice made, and the choice may be a hard one. The road goes upward toward the light; but the laden traveller may never reach the end of it.  - Ursula Le Guin

Didn't Sen. Dick "Turbin" Durbin get the feds to pay for the Winnebago county project to buy votes in the last election ?

I think the Michigan State Police just built a Taj Mahal in Lansing, Mi.  Millions of dollars.

Unless it's a Photochop, they did the second pic very, very carefully.  It makes it look like the jail is in a manicured park.  In reality, the jail is situated between the decaying old downtown and the decaying west side, and a block away from the monolithic "public safety" (ie. police station) building, where you can't park anymore.  Fear of bombs, you know.  Lots and lots of concrete.

And yes, it has all the essential features of a jail, inside.  Son #3 cooled his heels overnight there a time or two, for weed.

It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

At this point I think DC pretty much deserves what it gets. How many times did they re-elect that crackhead mayor?
