South Carolina Incandescent Light Bulb Freedom Act

"Men, it has been well said, think in herds. It will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one."
- Charles Mackay, Scottish journalist, circa 1841

"Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it." - John Lennon

"The incorporation of generic and insignificant parts imported from ... which have other manufacturing or consumer product applications does not bring the incandescent light bulb into interstate commerce and does not subject them to federal law or federal regulation," the bill reads.

Hasn't the SC ruled otherwise?

Well, considering that the Supreme Court has ruled that everything is interstate commerce...

I can't remember the name of the ruling but many years ago they ruled against a farmer who grew wheat for his own consumption, as just growing the wheat affected interstate commerce.

Wickard.

The latest Obamacare ruling, however, can regulate me even thinking about growing wheat.  Or not growing wheat.

That was my point. If SC companies are going to bring in materials from out of state (which they would certainly have to do to be price competitive), they're going to be hampered by the interstate commerce clause, especially if that clause can be used against someone growing his own food.
