Actors hired to call talk radio
« on: March 07, 2011, 01:36:39 PM »
Premiere Radio Networks, it turns out, has been hiring voice actors to call in to talk radio programs to read scripts.

Even though the fake calls were apparently humorous bits for morning-zoo-type programming, the implication will be that Limbaugh et al were using fake calls for their political discourse.

Limbaugh discussed this today. He said that he has never paid anyone to call his show, but if he did the secret could not be kept. His enemies would quickly use that evidence to discredit Limbaugh.

Surprise!

(Watching the english-language news from Moscow, I was absolutely shocked --shocked, I tell you!  -that in most of their allegedly "Amerioan on-the-street" interviews, the interviewees had slight, but detectable, russian accents.

I was absolutely shocked --shocked, I tell you!

And he makes a good point. If all these actors have called Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, etc, then at least one of them will come forward to reap the publicity.

I'm betting you they are immigrants living in NYC or NJ, doing it because a friend offered them to get on TV for the lulz.

I've noticed that in an awful lot of American quotations in British publications the speaker uses non-U.S. American sounding phraseology. Maybe Canadians and Brit ex-pats. Hadn't thought of that before.

If I were in the UK, I would probably start to pick up some of the local usage almost instantly. For that matter, while I am American, I taught in Thailand for seven years -- often from British text books.  I do have some British usage in my speech and writing.
