Not really. I don't see how it's any better an argument than, "Some disgruntled student with mental health issues could decide to go on a rampage - again." Either way, you're talking about a type of crime that happens pretty rarely, and the response will be the same zero tolerance drivel.

Someone please check the temperature in Hades?  I agree with Fistful.

What I'm concerned about not seeing is any indication that Homeland Security/FBI/BAFTE/DoEd, and/or any of a radt of other alphabet agencies that provide grants/scholarships to budding scientists who are/might be involved in animal expeimentation are not hot on the case looking to lock up the nutjobs who are suggesting such responses to the current methods of learning/experimentation.

It is with great relief that a rather cursory reading of the comments shows that the ideas of the bunny-lovers are not widely supported or shared.

I'd suggest playing "tit for tat" with these nutjobs....but then I'd probably be the subject for the next Iowa Homeland Security drill....

I'd really like to hear an official explanation of how these folks are not considered terrorists.  They intend to use fear, intimidation, and violence against purely civilian targets to conduct political changes in direct opposition to the will of the population.

Uh...  Why is the BATFE not burning down their homes and stomping their pets to death?  Why is DHS not feeling up them?  Why is the IRS and Treasury not tracking their money laundry system in order to freeze their funding?  Why isn't the FBI tracking their books they check out of the library?  All of these shiny anti-terrorism laws on the books that blatantly violate the Constitution, and yet they refuse to use them on admitted terrorists.

Left-wingers mean well. We must always give them the benefit of the doubt. Righties, as we know, are motivated by hatred, bigotry, and other unpleasant things. So they are so much more dangerous. I mean, what if they brought a mean sign to a Tea Party? People could die!

20 some years ago, I interned with the Justice Department during law school, and got to read a memo about A.L.F. (Animal Liberation Front) and similar organizations, written by a junior FBI agent and a young Assistant U.S. Attorney who were working on a case that led them to A.L.F.  The memo detailed the "organization" and at many points reached the conclusion that it was, in fact, a well funded international terrorist organization operating in the U.S.  Interesting stuff.  My guess is that 9/11 happened, and those terrorist suddenly got all of the attention.
