Blankety Blank banks and their blankety incompetance
« on: May 12, 2011, 12:16:15 PM »
Stupid USAA is still asking (one at a time) for various documents and pieces of info for the underwriters to give my loan a final approval...

I am supposed to close tomorrow.

Then, the aholes contact me and ask me W2s from 2008 and 2009,

which i already gave.

Then a credit card statement

which i already gave.

Plus, they've had a MONTH to ask for this *expletive deleted*it, and they're just now doing it.

I'm supposed to close TOMORROW. If i have to delay because of this *expletive deleted*it, I'm leaving USAA. All my investments, all my accounts. Everything.

It would be a lot easier if you just paid cash...

LOL.

Thanks.

If millions of in debt, irresponsible idiots can get home loans for houses WAY above their means...

someone with no credit card debt and modest cars should be able to get one for a relatively inexpensive house.

Just sayin.

Your experience is quite unusual. USAA is usually the best of the best, but I've only been dealing with them for 16 years or so. Ask to speak to a manager and discuss your concerns - they'll listen. :)

They  just resent the docs to the underwriters.

I'm supposed to close tomorrow, they'd better hurry up.

Also, the closing costs were DRASTICALLY higher than their "good faith" estimate.

How "good faith" is 30 percent higher than estimate?

That's not in very good faith, IMO.

Terrible service from USAAs mortgage department. Throughout the process. They've repeatedly not returned my calls, misplaced things, and generally been all screwed up.

That is incredibly unusual - USAA has been top notch for me for 16 years, and for the rest of my family for decades each. Even through mortgages and auto loans and such we never had trouble. I'm not sure what the heck could be happening, but you ought to be able to get a hold of SOMEONE to take care of this for you. =|

Can't do anything right now until underwriting re-review's the file. If they come back with retardation, i'll demand a supervisor.

This house is WELL below what my budget could sustain. I'm shocked that they've given me such a hard time.

I make 75 grand a year. a 1300 buck mortgage should be too damn easy.

It's likely not USAA but rather their underwriter.  Underwriters are bad about waiting until the last minute to process their paperwork, and each time they find something they need it triggers another something they need.  That's the downside of having an out-of-office underwriter.

We're spoiled around here.  Most of the local mortgage companies have their underwriters in-house so that the left hand really does know what the right hand is doing.

You just need proof.  Let me find our bank's address, and you can pay ours for 5 years or so.  We'll provide full documentation afterward so they can see how capable you are.    =)

Just got an approval... only 12 hours before I have to wake up and go close!

 ;/

Never again will I go through this process.

Beats all heck out of getting it 12 hours AFTER you were supposed to close =D
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

They just throw a few extra roadblocks in the way of people who can't spell "incompetence" . . .    ;)
