Severe Weather in NE Oklahoma and SW Missouri
« on: May 22, 2011, 11:07:02 PM »
Nasty storm rolled through NE Oklahoma and into SW Missouri and parts of Arkansas.
My wife was able to contact a friend of ours we went to school with that now lives in Joplin.
Her son is one of the 24 confirmed fatalities.

Sorry to hear that.

A friend of ours just called from Carthage (nearby). He and his family were safe, but he was crying. They said F5. Scary stuff.

A guy that comes up from Joplin to go fishing has his family out of town this week.

Wifes step sister and family are still unaccounted for.

My sympathies.

April 27, a huge number of tornados swept through N. Alabama where I live, killing @250 people.  We're still recovering and will be for most of the summer.  People are still homeless and they will be for even longer.

Much ugliness in Joplin.

We've got a few friends we haven't heard from yet but they didn't live in the heavily damaged areas.
A few miles north of me they have had 10"+ or rain today. My gauge shows only 1".
More severe storms bearing down on the area this evening.

Local news is reporting about how the region is coming together to help Joplin. My ex-sister in law ( some days I'd of kept her and had an ex-brother)  is a nurse and is in Joplin to help out.

Anyone know if there is a list of victims online   ???

My dad says that I have a cousin that lives in Joplin, but he has lost her phone number.

Oklahoma is getting pounded again this evening. Already had multiple tornadoes and report of fatalities coming in. Still an hour or more west of me but heading in. It's gonna be a bumpy night.

I haven't seen any list like that but you could try looking here.

Thanks, I checked that one earlier.
