Happy Birthday to Me
« on: June 24, 2011, 11:16:02 AM »
Well, the 1/3 century mark was last year, so not much fun to be had with 34.

But, I got $375 between SWMBO, my parents and my MIL that I have to spend.  Bicycle parts or fishing trip, that is the question.  I really want to do the fishing trip, but I need the bike parts.  The chain and casette on my recumbent are over-worn, and the jumping between gears because of that wear almost caused me to crash yesterday (that I still have platform pedals rather than clipless meant that my feet came off the pedals and hit the ground).

Decisions, decisions.

My .02, I would go with the bike parts as you will get more use out of it over time.

Bicycle parts.  And I have strapless toe clips on all my platform pedals.

Since no one else has said it, "Happy Birthday, sumpnz!"
And to heck with the bike, spend the money on good micros.  =D
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Happy Birthday, man.

Mine is tomorrow.

Happy birthday (and in advance to Azred too). How do you like your recumbent? I've thought they seemed like a good alternative to traditional bikes.

Happy Birthday!!  I'm 43 and I have no idea what I was doing at 34.  The years go by so fast.

Happy birthday to sumpnz, happy birthday tomorrow to AZredhawk, and I'll be hitting the big 4-0 one week from today  :O.

I've been on the downhill slope and I never even realized it!  =D

Sounds to me like you need the bike parts worse than the fishing trip.  Kinda sucks to blow your birthday bucks on utilitarian stuff, but sometimes ya gotta.

I'm hitting the big 4-0 this coming July 5th.  I have to agree with Gowen, the years go by so fast.  Happy early Bday to AZRedhawk44.

Happy birthday AZRed, erictank, and adively!

Yeah, I'm 99% set on the bike parts.

Balog - How tall are you?  If you're close to 6' you can try mine out.  The adjustment is in the boom that the pedals are on, so to adjust it you have to add or subtract chain links.  I really like it though.  It's a lot easier on my back than an upright.  It is a VERY different balance that takes a little while to get used to.

Oh, and Rocketman - I have plenty of micros in the fridge or easily sourced.  And Single Malt Scotch.
