Louis L'Amour question
« on: June 26, 2011, 04:23:44 PM »
A friend of mine was trying to remember the type of rifle carried by Chick Bowdrie, the Louis L'Amour character. He thought it started with a B, and the only name I can think of is Ballard.

Anybody know?

I used to read a lot of Louis L'Amour. Chick Bowdrie was a Texas ranger. I vaguely recall two or three books either about him or in which one short story in a collection was about him. But I don't recall ever seeing any mention of a rifle.

I took a look at the cover of Bowdrie and it looks like a Winchester repeater but you can't count on the cover of a book being accurate.  Now I am going to have to start searching through boxes of books to see if I have any books with Bowdrie in them.

Can't tell you about Bowdrie's shooter but I can tell you Sam Elliot had one bodacious knife in Louis' movies.
