Lookie at what I found in the punch bowl
« on: August 02, 2011, 05:45:54 PM »
Any time congress gets all bipartisan I break into a rash anticipating my future pain.  The bill, now law, requires a super committee composed of equal numbers of both parties be tasked with crafting budget cuts, etc. which will be presented to congress for final disposition.  Amazingly similar to fast track approval of trade "agreements" such as WTO and NAFTA.  Anyway lookie here at a report on the committee's membership

The debt ceiling deal will pass the Senate early this afternoon. No suspense there. But the vote will be worth watching for another reason: Three Republican Senate sources tell TWS that senators who vote against the deal will be ineligible to serve on the so-called “supercommittee” for deficit reduction that the legislation creates.

Now isn't that special.  I hope the report is wrong but somehow it has a ring of authencity.

- Charles Mackay, Scottish journalist, circa 1841

"Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it." - John Lennon

Let's be real....did any of the Tea Party incumbents have a chance to be put on a GOP-chosen committee like this?.....  =|
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

This really doesn't set well with me. Is it really unconstitutional or is it merely a committee?

I don't think that clause is in the BILL.

The goobermint goons that pass the bill will choose in a "bipartisan" way, the members of the committee, but only from those who support the bill in the first place.

They are manufacturing a false dichotomy of two parties, when what we are really seeing is the emergence of a three party system (Dems, RINOs and Tea Party).
"But whether the Constitution really be one thing, or another, this much is certain - that it has either authorized such a government as we have had, or has been powerless to prevent it. In either case, it is unfit to exist."
