Field trip Wednesday with kiddo's school
« on: September 08, 2011, 07:45:29 PM »
Went to Coronado State Monument and saw the Kuaua pueblo ruins, with a thoroughly entertaining docent. Kept looking for arrowheads (verboten) but did find a couple bits of cast off obsidian (also verboten). I didn't keep the bits but did ask the docent about them.

Earliest dating, according to the docent was the 1200's.

Then we went here:

Oldest car was a 1912 Buick.

Magnificent old cars, all of them, and some quite rare. One was even the only remaining specimen of 10 produced. "Sand dune derby" car (or some such). Great day with a bunch of well behaved kids.

If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.

I just found out that Obama headed the WPA during the Great Depression*:

...WPA workers, who also reconstructed new ruin walls over the reburied original ruins....
  Shovel-ready jobs, by golly!

stay safe.

*As opposed, I guess, to the Major Depression (NSG**) we are currently experiencing.

Another interesting bit, though not entirely surprising: The "new" walls the WPA folks built have since been allowed to crumble/erode/wash away...
