I bought a Frieling stainless steel French press.  Double walled, it keeps coffee hot enough that I do not microwave the second mug.

Just pour into a thermos. You don't want to keep your coffee in the brewing pot any longer than you need to- as long as the grounds are still in contact with the water, its going to continue to brew, and the bitter stuff leaches out of the grounds last.

Course ground, put in bottom of press while nuking water to a boil. When water starts to boil, let it sit for a minute- you want your temp to bea around 190-200 (just below boiling). Pour water in pot, let sit for about 30 seconds, give it a light stir to break up the floating crust of grounds, cover, and wait for a total of 3:35 (time may vary- too little, the coffe will be weaker, too long, it will get bitter), pres slowly, pour immediately into cups/thermos.
