It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

I remember reading about this town a couple of years ago and how they honored their Heroes.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Only the dead have seen the end of war!

Isn't this the same town that changed the route that the hearses took so that they would use the back roads and not have the center of town tied up with folks lining the curbs to honor the dead?

I think it was nice of HRH EII to notice that they were patriotic, but given the political leaders' behavior at the end I seriously wonder at the appropriateness of the award.

I know it's unfair to the folks who lived there to hold back the recognition because of the stupidity of their elected leaders, but insults like that are to me unforgivable.

If I recall correctly (and I may not be), it was the British Government that changed the route, in an attempt to draw less attention to the number of war dead coming back.

MillCreek is correct...they changed the route and the town was upset.  But, I believe one of our British members has more information about the change.

Ah!

Apologies to the town fathers.
