Before And After
« on: November 12, 2011, 07:58:25 PM »
22 lb pork shoulder roast

Before

After 18+ hours of hickory smoke therapy

Dang that was good.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Looks like my smoker there Larry.  Now you have me wanting to fire up the smoker while home.  Damn you.

I built mine about 12 years ago , all 1/4" steel. I wish I'd made it a little bigger. It will only hold 3 good size turkeys at one time

Mine is a Horizon, built somewhere there in Oklahoma, bought at Bass Pro a couple of years ago.  Wish I had gotten the bigger one.

Figure after this deployment I will pick up another one and use two when needed.

I still haven't had the time to properly break in my smoker.  I've used it to smoke some stuffed hamburgers, and dang they came out good.  But I need to do something like that - unfortunately the weather here in the PNW has just turned to nonstop rain for the next 5 months....  So maybe next spring........

Never a bad time to smoke.  Set a canopy over it and continue on.  I smoked a turkey last Christmas and have smoked in all sorts of weather.

Yep, grill and smoker get used year round here.

If I'd of been there that second picture would be very empty.  =D

My wife's sister and BIL were up to help me on installing a wood stove. We knocked out a big chunk of it.
Even my picky eater grand kids were back for 2nd and 3rd helpings of "pig"
Kind of heart warming to see the grand kids in action. Out with the 2 new feeder pigs I brought in this morning scratching the little porkers on the heads and then running in to eat some smoked pig.
