For the tactical boy....
« on: November 10, 2011, 12:44:51 PM »
Number one is a cub scout.  An unoffical uniform item they wear is a vest, they put thier various non uniform patches on.  Some are earned at camps, as awards, or by visiting or doing certain things.
Most look like this

I decided that wasn't what my boy needed.  Been hunting for a more practical vest.  Pockets for carrying gear around at camps and what not.  Found, won, paid on evilbay:

Now he just needs some 5.11's, jungle boots, and cool shades to round out the contractor look.....

You know - there was a good reason all the old cowboys wore vests: they needed all those pockets (inside and outside) for makins', matches, snacks, and who knows what else.  ;)

And it's damned uncomfortable to sit a horse with stuff crammed into your trouser pockets  =(

Amen.

One size up he should be able to wear it a couple years.

Paid hell finding a vest that wasn't a fishing vest, or a hunting vest with the big back pocket for downed birds.

When I lived in Korea and Japan, I noticed that the vast majority of construction workers and fix-it guys used vests instead of tool belts.  It seemed to make a lot of sense to me.  Bonus: no plumber crack.

What's wrong with the bird pocket?.....could come in quite handy on those outdoor trips....  =|
