Hey maybe. I don't quite understand how my Droid retails for hundreds and hundreds of dollars, but they couldn't swing for a little bit of rubber over the jack.

yes, I wiggled the cable, tried multiple outlets and whatnot.

I was hoping that by moving it slowly in a circle, and watching the charging indicator, you could identify a spot where the connection breaks.  This might indicate that the charging port is loose on the circuit board.  If a tension in one direction cause the connection to break, then it might work in your car because of how you set the phone down in the car is different from how you set it on the table in your house.
