I've used the search engine DuckDuckGo.com a few times, and found it to be better than Google, Bing and Yahoo. Google has become more difficult to use and get good results, so you might want to compare the two.

I've been using Metacrawler for 14 years or so.  My best friend at that time was a computer geek and recommended it.  So far I don't have a reason to switch.
