LOL. I always crack a smile when someone sticks it to the Federal Government but this guy is a megalomaniac.... who doesn't believe in the Constitution.

NYPD is truly the 7th biggest armed force in the world?

That is terrifying, if so.

1. USA
2. Russia
3. China
4. India?
5. UK?
6. Mexico?
7. NYC?

Above Iran, Iraq, A-stan, Italy (they have a freakin' aircraft carrier!), Australia, Israel, France (they have a freakin' aircraft carrier!), Poland, Japan (their "defense force" is pretty impressive)?

Even if that were true.... back in 1991 Iraq had the worlds 4th largest standing army. It was disassembled in 28 days. Coincidentally, in the same time period PRC possessed the worlds 1st largest standing Army. For some reason in 1992 they re-evaluated that posture and have begun to implement a doctrine of a smaller and much better trained Army.

Bloomberg strongarmed a law permitting him to run for another term last election, so the term megalomaniac is well suited to him.
He needs to know a police force is NOT an army.

Many of those numbers from NK, Cuba, etc... are pure BS.  Might as well call the US somewhere around 100 million, then... since all people aged 18-45 are part of the unorganized militia and there are several hundred million firearms in our country for them to use.  About on par with NK's boast.

I wouldn't put it past Dear Leader to have 5 million (laughably trained) reserve troops. You tend to see in crappy little paranoid dictatorships an inordinate percentage of the population is shifted over to the military. Hell, even in non-CLPD's(tm) if the base population is small you'll see a higher percentage as military just so their self-defense forces will be any sort of relevant in a of conflict.

For instance - Armed forces, active and reserve, per 1,000 population:
United States - 9.5
Russia - 15.9
United Kingdom - 6.7
Germany - 5.5
China - 3.4

Those looking normal'ish, ja? Now lets take a look at some of those countries with the smaller populations...

Israel - 103.6
Greece - 37.1
Finland - 74.6
Bulgaria - 51.6
Austria - 28.2

If Israel, a relatively stable country not being run by a cracked out psychopath, is willing to mobilize to such an extent that 10% of their population is or has been in the military, then I have no qualms accepting the numbers coming out of the DPRK.

DPRK - 418.9

Impressive.  It might last about 1.2 seconds against an Abrahms tank.
A lot of big city PDs have received military vehicles from the army or Nat''l Guard.  Still doesn't make 'em armies.
A lot of PDs have been getting "militarized" in recent years.  I really don't like this trend.  I suppose in some cases it's understandable.
But really, the army and the police have different jobs.  Atleast .... they used to ..... :'(

I would prefer a dictatorship of NYPD in NYC over blameburgs tyrannical nanny state
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

I wouldn't be to sure of that. Lots of misdeeds by the NYPD have been coming to light recently.

Corrupt narcotics officers, ticket fixing, quotas, involuntarily committing the officer that recorded them "encouraging"  quotas to psychiatric services.

Isn't Bloomberg the same idiot on 60 Minutes several weeks ago who attributed the NYCPD's capability to take out jet airliners with a .50 rifle?
