Go tell the Spartans

Frank Miller (of 'Sin City' fame) wrote a graphic novel called 300 which is being made into a movie, also called 300.  It's in post-production now for release next year, but a video journal about the movie is up on the Apple site. I thought some of y'all might be interested.

Yeah, but if I wanted to learn about history I'd go read a book.  Seeing as how I prefer to be entertained when I go to the movies, I'm looking forward to seeing 300.

Frank Miller is awesome! I'm really looking forward to seeing it. You say you want complete historical accuracy but you can't tell us that you didn't enjoy reading "Gates of Fire".

Actually, i started the Gates of Fire is awesome thread on THR Wink  love the book, read it twice.  really jazzed up herodotus's account of those times.

Pressfield just seems like more of a student of history kinda guy than Miller.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Sin City, but that format applyed to Gates of Fire makes me worry that they'll kill any historic significance the story had and ruin it forever (what Troy did to the Illiad)

I'll deffinatly fork out the 10 bucks to see it in theatre so he has a chance to prove me wrong though Smiley

Although Miller might not be a historian, he understands characters. If you look at the Miller-era Batman or Daredevil books, he really stays true to the real meaning of each hero. So even if he takes some Hollywood license, that he will still nail the essence of it. And yeah, Gates of Fire is awesome! Smiley
