I need a plumber so I can get an answer to a probably stupid question.
Standard bathroom setup - sink, then commode then bathtub all in a line against the wall. Wall is common with the kitchen, but I have no idea if supply and waste lines are common. (It's a rental built in the mid-1950's). I am not going looking behind walls regardless of whay you folks suggest for answers.
Issue - tub drain makes a nice "gurgle" sound when the commode is flushed. This is new, as in it didn't used to do that.
Hint? If I run the tub water supply (hot or cold makes no difference) even at a trickle the gurgling does not occur.
Note - I'm looking for a suggestion that does not involve reaching over and running water into the tub every time I flush.
Other info - running water in either the bathroom or kitchen sink does not stop the tub from "gurgling". Filling either the bathroom or kitchen sink and then pulling out the stopper does not make the tub gurgle. There are no apparent wet spots inside or outside.
So, before I call the landlord does anybody have an idea of either the cause of the gurgle or a fix?
stay safe.
