Other good ones:

The Searchers
McLintock!
North to Alaska
The Cowboys
The Undefeated
Horse Soldiers
Rio Bravo
....

It would be easier to just list the ones that I'm not that crazy about ;)

I agree.
There are five things, above all else, that make life worth living: a good relationship with God, a good woman, good health, good friends, and a good cigar.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Soldier.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Only the dead have seen the end of war!

stay away from his real early stuff its a testament to how the movie biz grew/changed
It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

One of my favorites was where they buy a stagecoach line to service a ghost town.  There was a skunk living in the old coach

Gabby Hayes was really more of a star back then than Wayne or Rodgers  =)

Something of a "pre-western", but The Big Trail has always been one of my favorites. His first starring role and one of the first talkies. All about the Oregon Trail. See it in the full extended version, not the cut version that Fox was selling for so long.

Not to mention that Marguerite Churchill was absolutely hot  =)
