Pretty much what the subject line says. I'm heading out to the range for the first time with my Chrony F1 I got for Christmas. No remote or printer. To prevent a wasted drive to the range, I set it up on a tripod in the basement and tried throwing some stuff through the screens, and some .177 airgun pellets from a cheap Chinese air rifle to test it.

I know it's indoors and night, so I had the plastic top screens right under a bare 100W incandescent  lightbulb to light them up.

When I power it on, all I get is  "OE" or "0E" and the two little "u    u" to either side that flip like jump ropes or whatever. I can't find this code "OE" in the manual anywhere, and I can't find it online either. It says it should be "AL" with the little flipping u's or jumpropes to the side when it's ready.

Is "OE" the new "AL" and they just forgot to update the manual, and it's just not reading? Am I dumb and missing something else?

It's a new 9V battery. It's not giving the "Lb" code for low battery. Is it one of the other "error codes for internal use only that are of no concern to the owner" as it says in the manual, or just busted?

I'd try it out in good sunlight first. I've got a Beta Master and it is a bit picky about lighting.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.
